MoT Test

01. Body and Structure:
The vehicle's body and structure must be free from excessive corrosion or damage in specific areas, with no sharp edges that could cause injury.
02. Fuel System
The fuel system must be leak-free, and the fuel cap must fasten and seal securely. Ensure the key is available as the fuel cap will need to be opened.
03. Exhaust Emissions
The exhaust system must meet the emissions requirements based on the vehicle's age and fuel type.
04. Exhaust System
The exhaust system must be secure, complete, free from serious leaks, and effectively silenced.
05. Seat Belts
All compulsory seat belts must be present and will be checked for type, condition, operation, and security.
06. Seats
Seats, both front and rear, must be secure, with the ability to lock rear backseats in an upright position.
07. Doors
Doors must latch securely when closed. Front doors must open from both inside and outside, and rear doors may need to be opened to access testable items.
08. Mirrors
Mirrors must be in place, in good condition, and secure.
09. Boot/Tailgate
The boot or tailgate must be able to be securely closed.
10. Brakes
Brakes must be in good condition with satisfactory operation and performance. Note that the road wheels are not removed during the test.
11. Tyres and Wheels
Tyres and wheels must be in good condition, secure, the correct size and type, with sufficient tread depth. Spare tyres are not inspected.
12. Registration Plates
Registration plates must be in good condition, secure, and have correctly formed and spaced characters.
13. Lights
All lights must be operational and secure, with headlamps tested for proper aim.
14. Bonnet
The bonnet must latch securely when closed.
15. Wipers and Washers
Wipers and washers must operate effectively to provide the driver with a clear view ahead.
16. Windscreen
The windscreen must be in good condition, providing a clear view of the road for the driver.
17. Horn
The horn must operate correctly and be of a suitable type.
18. Steering and Suspension
Steering and suspension must be in satisfactory condition and operate correctly.
19. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
For vehicles first used on or after 1 August 1980, a VIN must be displayed. No more than one different VIN should be present, except on multi-stage build vehicles.
